Why go electric?
Economical:
On average a 100-mile trip in an electric car costs significantly less than a petrol equivalent*.
Fun to drive:
Electric acceleration and quieter on the road. Our electric cars are a pleasure to drive.
Charging times:
Charging technology is advancing all the time, with rapid chargers now able to top up some electric cars in less than an hour**.
Range:
Don’t give in to range anxiety. We engineer our electric cars to go the distance and give you plenty of mileage.
Business benefits:
Switching to electric may make significant whole-life savings for your business. There are also government incentives that might be available to you and help sweeten the deal.
Let us show you the difference between different types of electric vehicles.
BEVs – Battery Electric Vehicles.
BEVs are powered by electricity alone. They are zero-emission while driving and could come with plenty of money-saving benefits, including tax exemptions.
At WJ King, prices start from as little as £22,800, all full electric models also qualify for a £3,000 Government Grant.
PHEVs – Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles.
PHEVs combine the power of both a petrol engine and an electric motor. The Leon e-HYBRID for example can run purely on electricity for around 30 miles, but also give you a petrol engine to fall back on if you need to drive further.
At WJ King, prices start from as little as £29,995.
MHEVs – Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicles.
When you drive a MHEV, the petrol engine is supported by an electric motor. The electric motor allows the car’s engine to switch off when coasting, braking or stopped, and quickly turns it back on when needed.
At WJ King, prices start from as little as £14,249.
Buying and owning an electric vehicle.
Whole life costs, which include purchase price, fuel and running costs, could be cheaper with an electric car. Grants, exemptions, plus local incentives like free parking and charging also help you save when you switch. To find out about the UK Government's grant scheme, which could save you £3000 off the purchase.
How do I charge my electric vehicle?
Charging an electric vehicle isn’t that different from refuelling. There’s still a fuel filler cap, but instead of a petrol tank you’ll find a charging socket where you can plug in the connector.
Where can I charge my electric vehicle?
At home.
While it is possible to plug your electric vehicle into a domestic three-pin socket, we recommend that you install a home wall box. Wall box chargers can refill your car up to three times faster. When you decide to install a charger at home, it’s best to go through an authorised installer. They will guide you through the whole process, from the pre-installation consultation through to the demonstration once the work has been done.
Out and about.
The UK’s network of fast and rapid chargers is getting bigger by the week. There are plenty of ways to pay for them too, from pay-as-you-go schemes to subscription models. Some points are even free. Finding your nearest charging station is simple. Apps like Zap-Map point the way to Type-2 and CCS connectors for Fast and Rapid Charging respectively.
