The all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV fought off stiff competition to be crowned ‘Crossover of the Year’ at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards 2018.
The seven-seater SUV won over members of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) thanks to its comfortable interior, refined drive experience, innovative i-Cockpit® technology and practicality.
The all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV i-Cockpit® is situated in the drivers eye line to help ensure motorists keep their eyes on the road, as well as featuring advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS,) including Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Distance Alert and Active Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA), all designed to improve safety.
The all-new 5008 SUV also includes a raft of practical features, such as sockets, hooks, blinds and intelligent storage spaces, which offer functionality and versatility. Additionally, its outstanding modularity and adaptable interior provides three individually folding seats in the second row, all ISOFIX compatible, adjustable longitudinally and in backrest inclination, along with two removable folding seats in the third row, resulting in the maximisation of leg room and an impressive load space of 952 litres.
John Murdoch, President of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers, said: “The 5008 SUV won its category by impressing judges with its versatile cabin, clarity of the i-Cockpit® design and the comfort of the model’s interior. It's a great vehicle to drive; refined, smooth and offers all of the practicality demanded by crossover buyers.”
David Peel, Managing Director at PEUGEOT UK, said: “The ASMW is one of the most respected and established bodies in the automotive industry and to be recognised for any award by them is always a great honour. We’re delighted to scoop the ‘Crossover of the Year’ award in such a competitive and valued sector.
“The all-new 5008 offers drivers a compact yet spacious option for the SUV market, and it is great that the features which we have worked hard to bring to this sector have been met with such high praise.”
Winning ‘Crossover of the Year’ at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards 2018 is just the latest in a range of accolades the all-new 5008 SUV has achieved this year, having won ‘Best Large SUV’ at the What Car? Car of the Year awards, ‘Towcar of the Year’ at the Caravan and Motorhome Club awards and ‘SUV of the Year’ in the CCT100 awards earlier in the year.
The all-new PEUGEOT 5008 SUV overcame tough competition from rivals, including the Nissan Qashqai, Vauxhall Grandland X, Dacia Duster and Skoda Karoq to take home the ‘Crossover of the Year’ award.
