The 10th National Apprenticeship Week (NAW 2017) - which celebrates Apprenticeships across all industries and all levels - runs from 6th to 10th March and this year the theme is 'ladder of opportunity.' This then would seem the perfect time to announce that Damon Powsey, an Apprentice working at WJ King's Vauxhall Dartford branch, was recently selected by Vauxhall MyAcademy as being the winner of the prestigious 'Apprentice Service Technician' Award for 2016.

Damon, who was one of five finalists, joined W J King - one of the fastest growing vehicle dealer groups in the South East and Kent - as an Apprentice Vauxhall Technician in 2013 when he was 17 years old. Since then he has progressed to become a valued member of staff and an asset to the Company.

The Award ceremony was held at the Hilton Hotel, St Georges, Burton On Trent, the Football Association’s National Football Centre, and Damon - who successfully completed the Apprenticeship programme in late 2016 - also received his graduation certificate at the same event from the England football team manager Gareth Southgate.

Speaking after winning the 'Apprentice Service Technician of the Year' Award, Damon, who attended the event along with his proud family and his department manager at Vauxhall Dartford, said ''winning the Apprentice of the Year Award has meant everything to me, especially as all my hard work has been recognised.  However, I am part of a great team at WJ King and I share this award with them''.

Allan Nash, WJ King's Group Aftersales Manager said ''on behalf of everyone at WJ King, I'd like to congratulate Damon on his exceptional achievement in winning this prestigious award. We are all extremely proud of Damon, who is an important member of the dynamic team we have in our Service Department.''
